Very simply, Doux means ‘sweet’ in French and this term specifically refers to the sweetest style of Champagne there is typically consisting of in excess of 50 grams of sugar per Litre (50g/L). Let’s compare this to another sweet beverage which you would be familar with, Coca Cola. In contrast, Coke consists of around 150g/L of sugar meaning that Doux Champagne is about a third as sweet.
